Volvo Ocean Race
The Round the World Yacht Race, now called The Ocean Race is a round-the-world sailing race. It was first sailed in 1973 as the Whitbread Round the World Race, organised by the Royal Naval Sailing Association and sponsored by Whitbread. From 2001-02 to 2019 it used the name Volvo Ocean Race due to the change of sponsor to Volvo.
Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18
The Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 was the thirteenth edition of the round the world yacht race. The race started in Alicante (Spain) on 14 October 2017 and finished in The Hague (Netherlands) on 30 June 2018 with an inshore race.
Securing accomodation, flights and visas for more than 50 people at 12 stops around the world; overseeing residence permits in Spain for The Boatyard's non-EU workers.
Shipping containers around the world and customs clearance; solving problems in value chains.
Preparing presentations, reports and meeting summaries; conducting tours for clients, schools, political representatives and media (CNN); promoting the Clean Seas Pledge in collaboration with UN environment, supporting the Turn The Tide On Plastic team.
Ensure Customer Service: follow up on contracts, build trust and respect, cover their rights and benefits; ensure deadlines are met; organise events, meetings and conferences, guided tours of the Race Village, among others.
Manage crises in an International Operational Environment (knowledge of procedures, quick solutions in MOB situations, extreme weather conditions and declaration of death in international waters); solve international value chain breakdown problems.
Support the Finance Department in invoice registration and budget management; implementation of financial policies.
Identify and report on areas for improvement, problem solving, anticipate risks when planning activities; teamwork with two-way communication, ensure transparent and permanent communication with customers and team, unbiased relationship; actions to spread Volvo and Boatyard core values around the world; brand ambassador.
